Rain Checks

Don’t forget when a store runs out of an item that is on sale, you can ask for a rain check!

My Kroger ran out of all the Pillsbury products that were on sale this past week.  I knew the catalina deal would run through March 23, so I asked customer service for a rain check on the advertised price.  I got 3 separate rain checks for the cinnamon rolls, crescents, and grands biscuits.  Even though they are no longer on sale this week, I’ll get to enjoy the deals I missed out on!

HEB Coupon Information

I received some great questions regarding HEB coupons.  I thought writing a reference post would be a good way to answer.

Where do I find HEB coupons?

There are three places you can get HEB coupons.

In the Weekly Circular: HEB generally prints their $ off coupons in their weekly ad.  These are regular buy 1 product and get a specific amount off.  You will also find buy 1, get 1 or buy 2, get 1 of the same product coupons in their ad.  In my weekly HEB postings I have listed these coupons as “HEB coupons good for this week”.  I will change that next week to read “HEB Coupons in this Week’s Ad” so you will know to pick up an ad as you walk in the store if you need one of these coupons.

In the Store: The meal deal coupons and the buy 1 of this product, get 1 of that product free coupons can be found hanging in the store.  Each store handles this differently.  My favorite HEB has the meal deal coupons and all the meal deal products displayed together at the front of the store.  All HEBs will have these coupons hanging near the related products, though.  They are yellow paper coupons you simply tear off a metal loop.  If you can’t find a hanging coupon for a deal you want, ask the manager or someone working the aisles.  Sometimes all of the hanging coupons will get pulled by customers and the manager will have more.  I’ve even asked the cashier to locate a coupon for me.

Joining HEB Clubs: HEB has two clubs.  Max’s Birthday Club where you can get special coupons for pet products and HEBuddy where you can get special coupons for your kids.

Can I stack coupons with HEB coupons?

“Stacking” a coupon means to use a manufacturer coupon and a store coupon together.  You can use a manufacturer coupon and a store coupon together on one product at HEB, but there is a catch.  All of the coupons from HEB’s ads and some of the coupons hanging in the store are actually manufacturer coupons.  Every coupon has a black square in the bottom right corner with either an “S” (for store) or an “M” (for manufacturer) in the middle.  If there is an “S”, you can stack your manufacturer coupon with it.

HEB’s policy on their buy 1 of this product, get 1 of that product free coupon is to allow you to use a manufacturer coupon on the product you are buying.  You cannot use a manufacturer coupon on the item you are getting free.

Number of Coupons per Transaction

If you want to buy several meal deals, you don’t have to worry about doing multiple transactions or making multiple trips to the store.  If your number of items correctly matches your number of coupons, they will scan without a problem and you can get all your items at once.
