Clever Homemaking Daily Chore List Information

I’m starting a new feature here at Clever Homemaking that I hope will help ease the housekeeping burden for a lot of readers.  I’ve struggled for years trying to keep my house clean, organized, and “company ready”.  I often found myself repeating the same steps and never getting ahead.  I would run out of time to cover some areas and the “deep” cleaning was often missed.  I was wasting my weekends trying to declutter and catch up instead of relaxing with my family.  I knew I needed a new plan.

I tried various websites and housekeeping techniques.  I tried breaking my house into rooms and assigning each room to a specific day of the week.  Everything I tried was too overwhelming, and I couldn’t seem to break the cycle.

It wasn’t until I came across Real Simple’s “The Elements of Clean” that I realized where I was going wrong.  I needed to break down the house cleaning into small chores.  By having a set of chores that needed to be done daily, weekly, monthly, etc., I could focus on those specific chores and nothing would get skipped.  I no longer had to focus on the entire house or even entire rooms.  I no longer had to think about it much at all.

I now have all of my chores on a rotating schedule based on how often they need to be done and what area of the house needs to be covered.  This system has given me so much freedom and peace of mind.  I simply do what chores are on rotation for the day and the rest takes care of itself.  Since most of my chores rotate during the weekdays, I’ve gained the time and energy I needed for my weekends.

I’ve decided to share my daily chore list each morning here at Clever Homemaking.  I hope it can take some stress out of your life and give you some of the housekeeping freedoms I have discovered.

I will make one post of the chores that are not in “rotation” because these chores should be done each and every day.  For example, every day you should make your bed, do the dishes, and wash necessary laundry.  Each day I will post the chores that should be done in addition to the daily chores.

I’ve planned out the rotation so the same chores do not fall on the same day of the week very often.  If your kids have something planned every Wednesday night and you find you often skip your Wednesday chores, you won’t keep skipping the same chores.  The chore you missed will rotate back around on a different night of the week.

I’m open to adapting my list to suit additional needs.  If you find an area of your home is not being covered or find an issue with the timetable, I’d love to hear your comments!

You can find the Clever Homemaking Daily Chore List updated here everyday.
